Below Freezing Pennsylvania Temperatures to Usher In Snow
Gosh, it’s cold. It really seemed as if we were going to avoid the cold and snow this winter. During December, it was super balmy, and I was really hoping that trend would continue. But, temperatures are dangerously cold in Pennsylvania right now, and that trend is also happening throughout the Northeast and Midwest. Now, below freezing Pennsylvania temperatures are set to usher in snow later this week. It’s going to be accumulating snow, too. Read on for the forecast.
According to Weather.com, high temperatures won’t get out of the 20s in most areas of Philadelphia and throughout the state of Pennsylvania on Wednesday (Jan. 17). It feel feel much colder than that, too, since wind gusts could hit 30 mph. So, with those temperatures, if you had any slushy or wet areas of snow on the ground that you didn’t get to clearing up, those will probably refreeze. That could make for some dangerous icy spots on the road and sidewalks, to be very careful. Slipping and falling in the winter months can be much more hazardous than many people think, so proceed with much caution.
Then, we’re getting snow. Both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, as well as areas across the state, will likely get an upwards of three inches of snow on Friday (Jan. 19), according to Weather.com. That’s during the day, with light snow continuing Friday evening. Temperatures are supposed to get up to the high 20s in Pittsburgh and low 30s in Philadelphia on Friday, but still below freezing. So, the snow will stick. Temperatures start to rebound towards a warming trend on Monday (Jan. 22) and Tuesday (Jan. 23). By Tuesday, we could hit 40 or a little higher, so that will help the snow and ice to melt. By next Friday (Jan. 26), temperatures could get well into the 50s again. So, just hang on.
