KLEZMER! KLEZMER! on the show This Week!
Susan Watts will be in town on Sunday, October 28, at 4 PM at the Annenberg Center with Soul Songs: Amazing Women of Klezmer – – and Susan will be our guest this Tuesday, as she talks about this incredible program. Not one, not two not three or four or five, but a dozen of the great klezmer players in the world, all women, all on one stage, for this incredible presentation of Yiddishkeit and women’s empowerment.
Another significant Philadelphia event will take place on Monday morning, October 22, as we dedicate the renovated Holocaust Memorial Plaza on the Parkway. David Adelman, who spearheaded that effort, will be with us for an Encore Interview in anticipation of this important event.
Finally, we remember Charles Aznavour, one of the great French entertainers of all time, and discuss his important connection to our people.
Music by Alicia Svigals, Cookie Segelstein, Mickey Katz, Cantor Pavel Roytman, and of course the late, the great Charles Aznavour.
The Marshall Portnoy Show is heard on Tuesdays at 10 AM (with Friday rebroadcast at 10 AM) on WWDB AM 860 in Philadelphia, and streamed at wwdbam.com. All past programs may also be heard on the station website.
