A funny thing happened to me last Tuesday. . . . I listened to The Marshall Portnoy Show! That’s what you’ll be saying this coming week after you hear this week’s program entitled “Our Funny People”. We’ll be joined by television writer Andy Cowan, born and raised in Abington, but now very much a West Coast boy with TV credits galore, including Seinfeld and Cheers. His most recent effort is a delightful book entitled Banging My Head Against the Wall: A Comedy Writer’s Guide to Seeing Stars, and I think that great title tells you everything you need to know. It’s a tough business in which to succeed, and Andy will share the many ups and downs of his career. We’ll also be joined by local comedian Stanley Isenberg, one funny guy, and even Chef Jane gets into the comedy act. Rita Ratson tells us about the funniest city of all, Chelm, and we’ll remember the wonderful comedienne Betty Walker. And now a joke for today. Remember to smile with the flower that is on everybody’s face – – Tulips!
