We launched on Tuesday, March 6, with special guest Thom Collins, director of The Barnes Foundation. What a marvelous guest, and what great initiatives The Barnes is doing, particularly in our inner city. I learned a little Yiddish with the delightful Rita Ratson (I’m not very good, so listeners will have no trouble keeping up with me!). On the musical side, we heard Cantor Alberto Mizrahi sing the great Passover song “Chad Gadya” and Theodore Bikel on “Di Mezinke” (Theodore Bikel Sings Jewish Folk Songs, Elektra Records, 1959). The great Naomi Miller sang “Oleh Oleh” and “As We Listen With Our Eyes” (Keeping Our Dreams Alive, Ephrayls Productions, 973-696-9280). A children’s choir sang my new “The Four Questions”, and we were joined by Chef Jane for a Passover cooking primer!
