On this week’s Food, Farms, & Chefs we are bringing you some of the biggest stars of Philadelphia’s food scene beginning with Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon of Kalaya Thai Kitchen, then we’ll hear from Chef Aziza Young, and round our show out with business entrepreneur-turned-restaurateur, Felicia Wilson, as she prepares to open her first culinary concept–Amina.
We begin our fantastic journey by speaking with Nok Suntaranon. Nok’s restaurant, Kalaya Thai Kitchen, was fast-tracked as a must-taste destination for Philadelphian’s and anyone in-the-know. She opens up with us, describing how she went from growing up selling curry pastes and products in the market alongside her mother to years later sharing her food, and showing her love through her meals with her fellow residents living within her neighborhood in Philadelphia. She then describes how doing that inspired her to open up her award-winning and James Beard Nominated restaurant Kalaya Thai Kitchen, and the menu that you will find when you visit her restaurant!
We next hear from the vivacious Chef Aziza Young, as she is still making waves in the culinary world after her two appearances on some of the hottest shows seen on-screen. You’ll hear about how she began her culinary path as a pop-up chef before interviewing to compete on Hell’s Kitchen season 16 that led her down a path as one of Chef Ramsay’s take over team members for his Atlantic City location. She later also appeared as a contestant on another hit show and eventually she became a private chef for elite athletes. There is so much more to unfold with her interview, so tune in to find out!
Lastly, we hear from Felicia Wilson as she begins her journey as a restaurateur with her soon-to-be-opened establishment, Amina. Amina is located in the ever-popular Olde City area in Philadelphia, and home to what will be a delicious lineup of Southern Cuisine with a hint of Chef Darryl Harmon’s own unique spice blends. You’ll hear from her own lips what enticing delicacies await your taste buds-from her dinner service to brunch, and the cocktails to pair Chef Harmon’s menu with. Find out what this ‘Goddess Warrior’ has in store for you as we look forward to Amina’s Grand Opening this coming April!
