We at Food Farms & Chefs are elated to bring you an author who should be on your book shelves in everyone’s home–Priya Fielding-Singh, who is a Sociologist and PostDoctoral Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Disease at Stanford University School of Medicine, wrote a page-turner with her new book, out November 16th called, “How the Other Half Eats: The Untold Story of Food and Inequality in America.” In it you will find interesting facts regarding how our eating habits affect our lives, the differences in nutritional gaps between socio-economical positions and how it impacts not only our physical health, but also our emotional health and wellbeing as well. This is a book that may turn the page on how we look at nutrition and its impact on our society–and rethink how to find solutions for nutritional inequality as a whole.
We then switch gears and introduce you to the 2016 Food Network’s Chopped Winner, Co-Owner and Executive Chef Timothy Witcher of The Wing Kitchen. We hear from Chef Witcher that he was born and raised in South Jersey, and began his culinary journey in his childhood home before attending The Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing. While growing up, he also rubbed elbows with fellow classmate, Kevin Sbraga (Top Chef Season 7 winner) and inside one of the Philadelphia area hotels kitchens, he worked alongside Chef Darius Peacock (Food Network’s Chopped Winner)–both whom inspired, motivated, and encouraged Timothy Witcher to evolve and flourish in the culinary world, and eventually compete and win on Food Network’s ReWrapped and Chopped shows. With his newly-acquired national attention, it aided him in opening his first location of The Wing Kitchen inside Wedgewood Country Club in Turnersville, NJ.
