This is the study I didn’t know I needed to stumble upon, but it is actually really interesting.
Am I surprised that when Crossword-solver.io studied thousands of movie scripts for f-bombs, h-e-double-hockey sticks, and sh*ts that the actor who uttered the most f bombs would be from the state I call home, New Jersey, F no.
Growing up in New Jersey I am very familiar with foul language and frankly it doesn’t even phase me when I hear it.
Two actors who grew up not to far away in New York are no stranger to curses. Denzel Washington has the most career “sh*ts” at 84 with 56 alone coming from the 2001 movie, Training Day. Al Pacino is the king of saying “h*ll” on screen with 49 and also up there for f-bombs, coming in second with 197.
Although those seem like a lot of one curse word over the course of an actors career, this New Jersey born actor blows their numbers out of the water. So whose the king of the f-bomb? That would be Joe Pesci who has said the f word 271 times and it’s a mind blowing fact but Pesci uttered the word 241 times alone in the 1995 film Casino.
Pesci was born on February 9, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Belleville.
Crossword-solver.io pulled almost 3,000 movies scripts from IMSDb, Dailyscript, Awesomefilm, Scriptsavanat, Screenplays-Online, Scripts For You, Script Slug, Actor Point, and Script PDF and extracts the specific dialogue for all characters in each movie they were looking for, then cross-referenced character names with each film’s IMDb page to match the character with the actor. From there the curse count was determined and the actors were ranked. You can see the full study here.
