R&B Dreams with a splash of hip hop was founded in part to give exposure to up and coming local R&B artists from all over the country. The goal is to celebrate originality and provide a platform for a genre of music that is not always celebrated. Local celebrities and community leaders are interviewed and skits with friends taken from the host D’Vina Cheri’s real life experiences that are guaranteed to make the audience laugh and overall FEEL GOOD. D’Vina expresses her individuality through her diverse talents and represents the voice of Philadelphia young adults and youth. Pursuing her dreams as a newly single mother a Virgo born September 1, music is more than a muse. In addition to founding her new radio show ‘RnB Dreams’ that airs on iheart radio app on WWDB weekly, her nonprofit ‘The Dream Collective’ is bringing music to after-school programs in the school district of Philadelphia and the tri-state area as she partners with various community groups such as United Way to better her community by feeding essential workers and the homeless and toy drives through her non profit. D’Vina has an innate ability to capture her audience’s attention as her sensual vocals embrace the ears of those who move to the rhythm of her tune. No stranger to the stage or TV screen, being on TV shows such as Tyler Perry “If loving you is Wrong” , Lee Daniels “Star” and the 2pac biopic by Benny Boom. D’Vina has made it onto stages such as America’s Got Talent where Heidi Klum said “You belong on the stage!”. During the pandemic her debut music video “I’m Done Waiting” was featured online on WHYY and PBS’s House Concert Series!! D’Vina has also been fortunate enough to sing in front of producers for ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol’.
As a child, her family has fond memories of her taking every opportunity to dance on the living room table and put on a show. D’Vina has shared her gift of song first with her elementary school teacher who would love to ask her to sing the finale song from “Bye-Bye Birdie.” After revealing her hidden talent, D’Vina discovered additional talents to strengthen her future career as an entertainer and started her acting career. D’Vina landed features in leading drama roles since kindergarten and elementary school casted as Dorothy in ‘The Wiz’ and in high school as lead character Audrey in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.
D’Vina has gained a wide range of skills by planting herself into other art forms such as modeling and has hosted red carpets such as ‘Empire’ the TV show season 1 premiere in Philadelphia and been on various panels as a speaker to the youth. As a Philadelphia native, D’Vina has competed in several local beauty pageants during her childhood and college. In addition, D’Vina has studied classical music and solfeggio at the historical Freedom Theatre in addition to being a background singer for various artists during her internship at Philadelphia International Records. D’Vina currently plays the piano at an intermediate level.
As a broadcast telecommunication and mass media major graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Temple University; D’Vina’s internship at NBC Universal & Comcast affiliate has made her presence known at many of Philadelphia’s prestigious institutions and in her community. D’Vina was known on her college campus for performing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ at Temple University’s historical ‘Liacouras Center’ for mens and womens basketball games.
Outside of the academic arena, D’Vina has been asked to headline various shows at city of Philadelphia landmarks such as PennsLanding Race St. Pier summer series and has been an annual opener at Universoul Circus in Philly. D’Vina has performed at the historical Kimmel Center of Philadelphia, Wells Fargo Arena, World Cafe Live, the famous Clef Club, Warmdaddys, Relish and many more venues outside of Philadelphia. In 2010 D’Vina competed in the West Oak Lane Jazz Festival and in 2009 DVina won first prize at the Annual United Way Talent Show as a soloist. D’Vina’s voice has reached thousands of listeners with her original music via iHeart radio media, Revolt, Pandora radio, Tidal, iTunes, Spotify, and various online outlets throughout the tri-state since 2013.
D’Vina aspires to establish herself as a songwriter and solo artist and in 2019 released her first debut album entitled “DreamcatcHER” for the world to hear in the genre of Pop/Soul. D’Vina’s first music video entitled “CRAZY” was made available on MTV.Com‘s artist website and featured during the VMA’s 2015 commercials. D’Vina is well on her way to becoming the star she was born to be and she is truly blossoming into her destiny.
