Normally on a Wednesday when you hear that sound it used to mark the beginning to the end of our week. Instead we are only half way home for the week and boy did we have some fun today. To kick things off on the show today Mark & Denise continued there on going battle on the #FreeMeek campaign. Before things heated up we were joined by Julian Terrell the Executive Director for the Philadelphia Student Union (www.phillystudentunion.org) to talk about the planned Mass Student Walkout in remembrance of the lives lost one month ago in the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida. The POWER Hour got started with Prof. Adolph Reed (Political Science) of the University of Pennsylvania talking about numerous topics including Politics, Race & Unionizing (www.sas.upenn.edu/polisci/people/standing-faculty/adolph-reed). We were then joined by Micha Sims (www.commoncause.org/states/pennsylvania) , the State Director for Common Cause came on to discus the battle for the 18th Congressional District between Conor Lamb & Rick Saccone. Rounding out today’s show was a special guest…Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney (beta.phila.gov/departments/mayor/). Mayor Kenney spoke in depth about Safe Injection Sites, the proposed Budget and the School Board.
