Producing Artistic Director Jay Wahl discussed the upcoming Philadelphia International Arts Festival, June 1st through the 10th, bringing performers from around the world to the Kimmel and to venues throughout the city, including ‘Doggie Hamlet’ in Fairmount Park and the French musician aerialists Transe Express’s world premiere, Cristal Palace  on the banks of the Schuylkill.  Other shows discussed included Taylor Mac’s 24 hour 24 Decade History of Popular Music, My Organ, My Seoul, Bassem Youssef: The Joke is Mightier Than the Sword, the ‘Jon Stewart’of Egypt’; and Tape Riot, combining dance with tape measure art on the streets of Philadelphia.

Mr. Wahl also spoke about the Gala kick off May 31st and the free family friendly PIFA Street Fair on Broad Street, Saturday, June 9th.

Also discussed, the resident companies of the Kimmel Center, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Philadelphia Opera Company,as well as their Broadway Series, jazz presentations and children’s programming.
