On today’s show Don and Joanne discuss the portion of the First Amendment that covers freedom of the press.

Guests include Stan Casacio of the Don’t Back Down Show, Senator Douglas Mastriano.

Freedom of the Press

The right to report news or circulate opinion without censorship from the government—was considered “one of the great bulwarks of liberty,” by the Founding Fathers of the United States. Americans enjoy freedom of the press as one of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. New technologies, however, have created new challenges to media freedom.

The First Amendment, which protects freedom of the press, was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the Bill of Rights.

The Bill of Rights provides constitutional protection for certain individual liberties, including freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the right to assemble and petition the government.

Jewish Perspectives on the News and Politics with Burt Siegel

This program will not hold back on what the host and his guests believe is wrong with an American society in which anti-Jewish sentiments as well as racism have become too often tolerated, where cooperation across party lines is treated as treachery, where immigrants and refugees are seen as a threat to the “American Way of Life” and the gap between the ultra wealthy and the average American is ever widening. While it will reflect the values of Judaism and the Democratic party all are welcomed to share their thoughts regarding how we can achieve the dream of what our nation aspires to be about.
