The Fishtown District is one of the region’s most dynamic, eclectic business improvement districts (BID), and its creation and operation ensure for the long-term planning, growth and vibrancy of this beloved commercial corridor. However, there are 18 such BID’s in the City of Philadelphia, and this statutory creation has allowed for neighborhoods to plan their own path for success by incorporating the unique cultural and geographic aspects that make their communities special.
This week, Marc and Kae will be joined by their friend and colleague, Job Itzkowitz, Executive Director of the Old City District, to discuss the importance of business improvement district’s for the City of Philadelphia’s development, how they operate, our role in legislative advocacy, and the creation of the Philadelphia BID Alliance, the latter a city-wide collaboration composed of sixteen (16) organizations focused on long-term economic development and public service. It will be a compelling look into the inner-workings of neighborhood evolution.
