Sheila Hess, City Representative for the City of Philadelphia discussed the upcoming Welcome America Festival, June 28th through July 4th.  We discussed the 50+ FREE events found throughout the city, including the annual kick-off, the giant Wawa Hoagie at Independence Mall, the movie nights which wrap with Rocky on the Philadelphia Art Museum’s steps, the ‘Go Forth and Learn’ demonstrations and activities each day, the annual Sand Art Spectacular at Liberty Place, the free Museum days, the concerts on Independence Mall, cocktail nights at City Hall and the Fireworks, Saturday June 30 on the Delaware River and July 4th on the Parkway.   What better place to celebrate America’s Birthday than America’s Birthplace?  We also talked about the importance of the festival to Philadelphia’s tourism and economy.  Get a complete schedule HERE
