After months of barely putting on anything other than sweatpants, we may all be a bit out of practice when it comes to getting dressed for a date. Navigating what to wear on a date, especially the first date, in a post-pandemic world, can be tricky and stressful if you’re unsure about what to wear to make the best first impression. As we emerge from our loungewear lifestyle and get back to in-person dating, should we be focusing more on comfort or style?

According to research from the University of Pennsylvania, it takes just 3 seconds for someone to determine whether they like you. “In those first few initial seconds of meeting you are sizing up and being sized up based on your appearance,” says Philadelphia

. “When it comes to dating, dressing your best on a first date is an opportunity to put on the outside what you feel on the inside,” says Kaufman.

At first glance do we need to see what we want? We all know the old Mark Twain adage, “Clothes make a man” Of course, clothes help us to identify someone’s rank, status, job, and even sickness, Back in Shakespeare’s day, that was a big deal. But do clothes still “proclaim” us today? It turns out that clothes do make the man or woman and now more than ever, a first date is an occasion to get excited about dressing for love and making a good first impression.

If you feel as though you’re clueless about what to wear on your first, second, or even third date, tune in to Jewish Singles Radio tonight at 6:30PM on WWDB 860AM/WPEN 97.5FM HD2. Together with style expert, Karen Kaufman, we will answer your questions and guide you through today’s dating fashion do’s and don’ts.
