The calendar says it the beginning of the week but it kinda feels like a Tuesday here on Mark & Denise in the Mornings with the Memorial Day holiday. But just like every other day, we had a lot to get into. The morning headlines included the cancelling of ABC’s Rosanne after the lead actress, Rosanne Barr, sent out racist remarks on Social Media. One of the major stories on the day was the Bias Training that was going on at Starbucks stores nation wide. Asa Khalif (Coalition of Black Lives) and Heather McGhee (President of DEMOS) were on the phone lines offering their insight on the training, the presentation from the local media (or as Mark called it, “Philly Wallpaper”) and what the potential next step would/should be. The 8 o’clock hour, sponsored by POWER, brought to the phone lines TV Critic Eric Deggans (https://www.npr.org/people/243254424/eric-deggans) to talk about the cancelling of the Rosanne show. Then an interesting story out of Tennessee about a candidate for governor who has a “unique” stand on a cause for the recent outbreaks in school shootings. Let’s just say, you gotta reach for it.
