Maryanne returns for our annual Summer Safety Show! As the season changes she recommends going over all play and outdoor equipment to check for breaks or leaks in gas grill lines, damage to helmets or knees pads, and more. She also reviewed pool safety, recommending multiple obstacles to entering the pool and the use of children’s safety bracelets that emit a signal when they are submerged, she also suggested designated ‘life guards’ charged with watching the kids when there’s a party near a pool and removing ladders when the pool is unsupervised. We also discussed second hand toys and sports equipment, never buy a used helmet – just as with child car seats, you can’t see any internal structural damage, she also reminded us to buy age-appropriate bikes and toys, and to take photos of items to research at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website which lists all product recalls and warnings.
