James Jones Bio from Jones For Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania:

My name is James Jones, and I am running for the position of Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.

I love my country and my state, and I believe that my experience as a public servant makes me a good fit for the people and the position. Apart from that, I am a devout Christian, a business strategist, and an HR professional who is based out of Hatboro with a track record that speaks for itself.

Once elected, I will be responsible for:

  • Serving as President of the State Senate
  • Chairing the Board of Pardons and the Local Government Advisory Committee
  • Serving on the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Council and Military Base Community Enhancement Commission
  • Overseeing the Work of the Turnpike Commission, the State Fire Commissioner, and the State Police

James Jones as a Business Professional

Jones, the founder and principal at Silverback Commodities, has over 25 years of experience with global governments, energy, military, finance, project development, and engineering. With offices in the United States and Paris, France, Silverback Commodities has built and supported relationships in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Prior to founding Silverback Commodities, Jones was President and Managing Director of QSI International Inc., a human resources and human capital consulting practice.

James Jones as a Public Servant

Committed to public service, Jones ran for US Congress 8th Congressional District (currently 1st Congressional) in 2008; and for US Congress 2nd Congressional District (currently 3rd Congressional) in 2016 on a platform of economic and job growth, restoring fiscal responsibility, and creating stronger,
safer communities.

Jones, a retired US Navy veteran, has adapted his military background and naval experiences to help deliver national energy solutions for the 21st century. Jones was responsible for the acquisition and budgeting of surface ships and aircraft material requirements and support personnel for combat readiness and operations, worldwide.

Jones, who very early in his naval career understood that delivering energy and petroleum is one of the world’s greatest challenges for our allies and partners. His service includes patrol duties in Vietnam, various Western Pacific Cruises, the Gulf of Hormuz, and the First Gulf War.

James Jones as a Christian

A devout Christian, Jones attends church at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia in Northeast Philadelphia. Jones was appointed to manage the Faith-Based Initiatives in Bucks County under former President George W. Bush and the late Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick. He also served on the Bristol Township Weed and Seed Council, the Berean Institute Board of Directors, and the Philadelphia Prostate Council under Mr. Michael Milliken.

Calvin R. Tucker is the Deputy Chairman of the PAGOP and Director of Engagement & Advancement for the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.

In this role, his chief responsibility is the recruitment of African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asian Americans, Millennial’s and Women into the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Tucker is also the Managing Director of Eagles Capital Advisors, LLC a Management and Economic Development Consulting firm as well as the Capital Manager for West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution (WPFSI).

Calvin has published articles and blogs on the topics of small business, small business finance, and education in the minority community which have appeared in the WPFSI monthly newsletter, the Philadelphia Daily News and the Mt. Airy Patch Online Newspaper.

He also co-hosted the monthly radio program, “There’s Money Out There” which aired on WURD 900 AM.

Mr. Tucker graduated from Lincoln University in 1975 with a BA in Business Administration and Finance. He has completed post-graduate work towards his MBA at LaSalle University.

Calvin has 30+ years of experience in the financial services industry working primarily with SMB’s. During this time he served as an Executive and Senior Officer with Advance Bank, United Bank of Philadelphia, GMAC Commercial Mortgage Corporation and has originated over $750M in loan transactions.

Calvin is a former Regional & National Director of the Resolution Trust Corporation.

In addition to Mr. Tucker’s business experience, he has served on numerous boards, such as Presbyterian Children’s Village, West Philadelphia Culture Center-Paul Robeson House, African American Chamber of Commerce, Entrepreneurs Works (formerly Community Capital Works), Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, White Dog Enterprises , Philadelphia Board of Public Assistance and the University of Pennsylvania Real Estate Society. He is also a former member of the Vesper Club, and a past member of Near Equity Fund of Women’s Opportunity Resource Center.
