We take a walk on the sweeter side of the food industry as we speak with CremeBrolee Food Truck’s owner. Then we’ll get a little savory with the Director of Culinary for the Garces Group and two of the restaurant’s involved with the summer-long Old City Eats festivities. And our final guest will be grilling up some scrumptious meals after offering some key-techniques as you prepare for BBQ season on this week’s Food, Farms, & Chefs Radio Show!
Our first guest, Oscar Marin, joined us in-studio for an update on what’s been happening with his business, CremeBrolee, along with his family’s businesses La Fogata and Philly Yard Bar. We also take a light look into the economics behind the food industry, and of course we will stay well-balanced with discussing the delicious food you can get at all the different ventures he’s involved with. And you get to hear it first on Food, Farms, & Chefs as Oscar announces a new restaurant that he is involved with via his vast knowledge as a consultant!
We then spoke with Chef Nate Johnson who is the Director of Culinary for the Garces Group; a group of elevated restaurants found throughout Philadelphia which spans a multitude of cuisines. Two of the Garces Group’s restaurants (Amada and The Olde Bar) are participating in Old City Eats, which kicks off on May 26th for the Old City Eats Block Party. We chatted about the Block Party, the details related to this summer-long initiative, and went in-depth with some of the other delightful dishes that The Olde Bar and Amada offers.
Lastly, we spoke with a friend of the show and our favorite Master Barbecuer–Ray Sheehan. He let all of us know about the latest awards he was given for his fantastic sauces, and offered up some grilling techniques to prepare you for this year’s BBQ season. But remember–you can also find them (and so many more) in his book “Big Green Egg Basics from a Master Barbecuer” online, in stores, and soon–inside his new restaurant which he announced to us first on the Food, Farms, & Chefs show! Tune in to hear all about Ray’s Roadside Kitchen, what they will offer, and when they’ll be opening!
