\nShadoe Stevens has one of the most recognized voices in the world. As host of American Top 40 from 1988 – 1995, he was heard by a billion people a week in 110 countries.
\nHis first major success, WRKO-AM in Boston, gave him a 33 share of the audience. In Los Angeles he became one of the legendary “Boss Jocks” on KHJ-AM. Then, he was made program director of rival KRLA-AM, and created a #1, Album-Rock Station on AM.
\nNext, a little AM station in Burbank was acquiring an FM signal and wanted a station more exciting than what he’d done on KRLA-AM. Shadoe launched Alternative Rock Programming as “WORLD FAMOUS KROQ-FM.” He created the format, “All New Rock, All the Time,” the branding, inventive 3D audio-theater, production and special programming.
\nMoving on to KMET-FM, a struggling progressive station, he was the architect of what became the first financially successful Album Oriented Rock station in America. His production and marketing delivered energy and a sense of humor. He wrote an iconic jingle sung by the Pointer Sisters, and designed billboards in fluorescent letters posted upside down. It became the number one station in six months and Billboard Magazine gave him the Progressive Personality of the Year Award.
\nHe went on to create thousands of national and regional radio and television commercials, and become a CLIO Award winner.
\nNext – “Rhythm Radio,” “The Sound of the World In a Good Mood” – world programming with nationwide coverage in 30 countries and broadcast on the Internet in 7 languages.
\nThen, most recently – Mental Radio – an Immersive Cinematic, Audio Comedy Theater Series.
\nHe started his career widely promoted as “The World’s Youngest Disc Jockey” – hometown radio station KEYJ-AM – Jamestown, North Dakota. He was 11.
\nIn 2023, Shadoe Stevens was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
