Brandon Victor Dixon, following his Emmy Award nominated turn opposite John Legend as Judas in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar, has since starred in FOX’s RENTonFOX, Amazon’s Modern Love, the STARZ hit POWER, and PEACOCK’s The Best Man. Prior to that he completed a star turn as Aaron Burr in the cast of Hamilton on Broadway.

A Presidential Scholar Semi-finalist and scholarship winner at the British Academy of Dramatic Acting in Oxford, Brandon is a graduate of Columbia University and a recipient of the University’s I.A.L Diamond Award for Achievement in the Arts which is an honor he shares with Tony Kushner (Angels in America), Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change) and Katori Hall (Mountaintop, TINA on Broadway).

Since his professional debut, originating the role of Adult Simba in The Lion King national tour (Cheetah), Brandon has displayed his diverse abilities in a number of roles. Notably, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Harpo in Broadway’s The Color Purple, a Grammy for his portrayal of Berry Gordy Jr. in Motown The Musical, and he was nominated for Olivier, Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and AUDELCO awards for his outstanding portrayal of Haywood Patterson in Kander and Ebb’s The Scottsboro Boys.

Brandon has appeared in concert with various artists such as Burnt Sugar: The Arkestra Chamber, Jennifer Hudson, Nathan Lane, Wynton Marsalis, Chita Rivera, Liza Minnelli, David Hyde Pierce, and Tony winners Levi Kries, Kelli O’hara, and Brian Stokes Mitchell. Other Credits include: ABC’s One Life To Live, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, ABC’s The Good Wife, and NETFLIX’s “She’s Gotta Have It”.

JT curates the annual Altercation Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas, currently entering its 10th year and recently hailed by Vulture.com as one of their ‘Top Comedy Festivals in the World’.

An ever-present road dog often teamed with comedy legends ‘Bitter Buddha’ Eddie Pepitone and ‘Mr. Show’ alumni Brian Posehn, JT has performed at famed venues such as The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, City Winery NYC, Lincoln Lodge Chicago, The Punchline San Francisco and Dynasty Typewriter LA. His material can be heard worldwide in consistent rotation on platforms such as Today’s Comedy Radio and XM Sirius.

JT has released a trio of albums on the Grammy-winning imprint Stand Up! Records, has appeared on Comedy Central’s sketch program ‘The Upright Citizen’s Brigade’, and acted in the cult Troma Films hit ‘Toxic Avenger 4′. JT has also toured as direct support for numerous punk and metal bands, including Off With Their Heads, Riverboat Gamblers, The Sword and The Dwarves. He is one of only a handful of comedians, including Marc Maron and Janeane Garofalo, to have shared the spoken word stage with Henry Rollins. In 2024, he became the first comedian ever to tour nationwide with spoken word icon Lydia Lunch. For doing so, Nick Cave called him ‘a very brave man’.

JT is a frequent national festival headliner, having in recent years appeared on Pouzza Fest Montreal, High Plains Denver, Akumal Comedy Festival Mexico, Bird City Comedy Fest Arizona, The Fest Florida, Savage Henry Comedy Fest , The Santa Cruz Comedy Festival, Punk Rock Bowling Fest Las Vegas, and Fun Fun Fun Fest Texas. During its heyday, he was one of a handful of comics invited to perform on the nation-spanning Vans’ Warped Tour.
