We’re back on the air for Show Number SEVENTY SIX (#76). >>>Our Guest today is South Philadelphia’s, U.S. ARMY Vietnam Veteran – SPECIALIST-4 ‘JERRY’ TEMPESTA. In 2022, VFW Magazine published my article: “Ambush at Renegade Woods.” My research entailed over one year of interviews with the living members of the 2/27th 1st Platoon, Company C, 3rd Brigade, editing, and more editing. I’m indebted to VFW Magazine Editor-in-Chief Tim Dyhouse and Tina Clark, Administrative Assistant. A platoon of Army soldiers were ambushed while trying to rescue Army rangers who were under attack. Jerry was in the right flank. While under attach their platoon leader 1st Lt. Clark was shot and Spec.-4 Tempesta went to immediately rescue, Lt. Ronnie Clark’s saving Clark’s life. Jerry was shot in the head during the battle, thereupon receiving his second Purple Heart. Jerry left South Philadelphia to serve his country in Vietnam, having left behind his family, friends, and his singing buddies of THE EMERALDS
