The Fishtown District began “Find it in Fishtown Live” as not only a way to highlight the people, businesses and stories that make our commercial corridor special, but to engage in open positive discussions with each other. Only then can we truly understand one another, and move forward together.
December 9, 2021 is the 40th anniversary of one of the darkest days in the City of Philadelphia’s history……the killing of Police Officer Daniel Faulkner and the subsequent conviction of Mumia Abu Jamal. This case has polarized not only the City, but the entire world. As we acknowledge the passing of four decades since the tragedy occurred, we are no longer any closer to clarity.
Join us this week as we welcome renowned filmmaker, Tigre Hill, producer/director of the definitive documentary of this crime, and its aftermath, “Barrell of a Gun”, and world-respected author/journalist, Gerald Posner (“Case Closed”, “Why America Slept”, “God’s Bankers”, “Killing the Dream”, and executive producer/consultant on “Barrel of a Gun”) as they look back on this tragic event, discuss the decades-long debate on guilt or innocence, and talk about the challenges of non-fiction storytelling. It is an hour that you won’t want to miss!
